Patient Success Story: “Dr. Fogarty saved my life a year ago today.”

On April 12, 2023, Edinger Medical Group physician Dr. Tamara Fogarty, MD, FACP received a heartfelt thank you letter from a longtime patient.

“My Primary Care Provider, Dr. Tamara Fogarty, a physician for Edinger Medical Group, saved my life a year ago today, April 12, 2023. I was in her office for a small issue and she suggested she check my heart while I was there. We were both surprised to hear that I had a heart murmur. She sent me to a heart specialist immediately and he sent me to another one. The diagnosis was the need for a TAVR and the procedure was scheduled quickly. Dr. Arvind S. Nirula and Dr. Sanjiv Patel operated and implanted a Sapien 3 Ultra Transcatheter Heart Valve on May 12, 2022. I must say I had no pain at any time and had such excellent care at the hospital and during the following months. I am in awe of their expertise!

It seems to me that the glue that held this entire process together was Diane Ison, a Structural Heart Coordinator, that was either by my side or on the telephone coordinating this year-long process of tests and exams, and is still in constant contact in following up on my progress.

I will soon be 92, and still take care of my home and the outside gardening, as well as dancing four times a week.
